There's no doubt that finding the perfect playlist can motivate and inspire you. Whether it's finishing the last mile of your run, tackling that laundry you've been putting off, or getting you through your workday, tunes can change everything. So let's motivate and inspire each other, shall we?

This is Brain Music: a selection of songs curated monthly by different members of the Rochester community that we hope will inspire you the same way it inspires its curator.

Today we bring you a playlist from Rachel Cordaro, whose solo show "Hold On, Let Me Overthink About It" is featured in our Gallery Room through the end of September. Without further ado, Brain Music Episode 11:

Music has a strong imprint on my life that started when I was very young. I can remember Stevie Wonder's warm and familiar vocals playing while I colored and played in my sand box! Road trips to Florida with my siblings rolling around in the back of our red Astro van, trying to keep up with the lyrics of Gloria Estefan and Bonnie Raitt- to watching my parents turn up the volume whenever Van Morrison or Anita Baker played! Like my sense of style my music choices can be eclectic and unpredictable!

The right songs can make me feel alive and energized, propel me to paint for hours and not even notice the time that's past! Listening to music in my studio is powerful and plays a huge part in my creative process for more than the foot tapping reasons! Music can heal, move me to dance, think up new ideas, write, cry or just give God the honor for giving me a talent I can use to be a successful business woman! All in all music is powerful and when mixed with a creative spirit....watch out!

Hope you can find joy in what flows through my headphones!
