The Face Behind the Blog

The Face Behind the Blog

I'm sure you've been dying to know (or maybe just wondered, once, maybe?) who exactly writes these blog posts. Is it one of the Co-founders, Danielle or Stephanie? Good guess, but no. How about one of the teachers? Wrong again. Any more guesses? How about I just introduce you to myself - the face behind the blog.

So, here I am. Olivia Engel. Pretty much you're typical 20 year-old college student. Right now I'm a senior at SUNY Geneseo and I will be graduating in May (initiate panic mode!). For the past 3 wonderful years of college, note a tinybit of sarcasm here, I have majored in Communication, with a concentration in Public Relations and have completed a minor in Business Administration. While college is a lot of hard-work, late nights, and a lot of fast food, I really have learned a lot about myself and where I want to be in the future. I grew up in Batavia, NY, about 45 minutes from Rochester. My parents like to think they're "cool" (they're actually not bad - but don't tell them that), I have 1 older sister, 1 younger sister, and 1 younger brother. What's really cool is that I became an aunt 7 months ago, and all bias aside he really is the cutest baby, honestly. When I'm not working or babysitting I enjoy reading books and being outside, but not in this weather. I'm not that crazy.

Last semester I was lucky enough to notice an internship position at this pretty cool place, Rochester Brainery. Heard of it? When I read what the Brainery was all about I was instantly hooked. Fun and affordable classes on all different areas... it sounded like the perfect place for an internship where I could gain some experience to put on a resume. (Cue the whole growing-up adult job panic again..)

You can find me here at the Brainery usually during the mornings and afternoons. My main job in helping out the Brainery includes writing blog posts and working on our Pinterest account (check for updates soon, here!) When I became a part of the Brainery I told Danielle and Stephanie to throw anything at me; I was up for anything. Even in the few short weeks I've been here I have learned a lot and continue to every day. Writing blogs is not something I was familiar with but I've enjoyed learning along the way with each post and we hope you've enjoyed them too!! I can't thank Danielle and Stephanie enough for this opportunity, and I know the 4 other interns are just as thankful. By offering internships to college students they allow us to learn what it's like to work in the "real-world" (which so far I guess isn't that scary) and offer us advice and tips they know from experience.

So, if you're ever in the area during the day stop in to the Brainery, I promise to greet you with a smile! Whether you have questions, ideas, or just want to chat, I'm a pretty friendly person. Also, stay tuned in the future to learn about each of the Brainery's wonderful, smart, talented, friendly (can you tell we like them?!) interns.
